10 things you might not know about me

I thought it would be fun if I blogged about something ... well, FUN. You know, just for the heck of it? Just because I take writing seriously doesn't mean that's all I ever talk about or blog about. Let's face it, there's more to the world and to life than one topic. On my blog you will encounter all sorts of randomness. LOL

Now, here's 10 things you might not know about me. (In no particular order.)

1. I tried to fly once when I was 8 yrs. old. Epic Fail.

2. I have always loved to read and write about vampires and werewolves. It's not something I did to be "popular," or to stick with any trend.

3. I used to have a coffee cup that said "I'm saving myself for Tom Selleck." LOL Don't know what happened to it. I should get a new one made:)

4. I can think of few things more peaceful than a clear, cool night with the full moon shining down.

5. I was one stripe from a black belt in Krav Maga (and another mixed style) when I stopped taking classes. If I'd finished my last stripe, I'd be registered as a weapon.

6. I think Chuck Norris' beard is sexy.

7. Hulk Hogan told me to take my vitamins once when I was a kid. Seriously. He patted me on the head and everything. LOL

8. I don't have a foot fetish or anything, but I DO notice feet. If someone takes care of their feet, it's a good sign they take care of the rest of themselves. The sight of freaky unkempt toes will make me scream. It's so nasty!

9. Beauty and The Beast is my favorite fairy tale, followed closely by Red Riding Hood.

10. I love drama, the theatrical kind. Not stupid bitches who talk trash. LOL

Now, you know a few more random things about me. Wasn't that fun? Talk of drama makes me feel the urge to practice my bitch slap. Well, off to take care of that.

I'm still standing

Better than I've ever been. (What, no one else thought of the next words to the song too?) I've been busy lately, despite my promise to take a break. You know how people say that even lovers need some time away from each other? Well, I think that even writers need some time away from writing.

Don't get me wrong, I crave it. Typing a new chapter is almost like a fix sometimes. It's my drug, my addiction and I love every minute of it. But, I've been taking on too much lately and I need to clear my palate, so to speak.

The last time I took a break, I took four months off and ended up writing the best book I've ever written after that. I've only taken a few days off and I'm already full of new ideas. LOL We'll see how long this break lasts.

I do have some good news to share. I've got a contract on three new books! One of which is, in my opinion, my best ever:) It's called Eden and it meant a lot to me. I can't explain it, the story flowed like the others never have. They all flow ... this was just different. I enjoyed it more than any other story and hopefully my readers will feel the same. It's for that purpose that the book is dedicated to my readers:)
I've also done another photo shoot with my official photographer and friend, Stacey. Some of you may recognize him from the werewolf hunter series. That's right, Dr. Richard Stacey is based on a real person and he makes a hell of a photographer when he's not busy being a physicist. LOL

Unfortunately, Marco is still only in my fantasies. Dracula is another story .....

Here are some of the shots we took. I think I'd make a good Punisher. What do you think?

What I'm working on

People ask me fairly often what I do when I'm not writing. The truth is, I'm very seldom doing anything else. But the few moments I do have, I like to do something I consider fun. See, writing to me is fun. It's my ultimate escape and at the same time, my most fulfilling form of work. It's my creative outlet. It's what keeps me from going insane. If I didn't write, I'd just be a regular nutter, I suppose. LOL

So, right now, I just turned in book 4 in my series, Original Sin, to my editor. I'm almost finished editing (to my own specifications) book 5, A Dream Forbidden. (I point out that this edit is for myself because I'm much harder on me than an editor ever has been. Sometimes I'm my biggest fan, but mostly I'm my worst critic.)

As soon as I'm finished with that (in the next day or so) I'll send in book 5 and within the next week, start book 6, The Bleeding Heart. So far, I've got a 3 page outline for book 6:) After that, I've got a few ideas I'm playing with. I'll end up writing them all, I've just got to decide which one to write first:)

So .... that's what I'm up to.

Are you British in bed?

A friend of mine emailed me this the other day and it's hilarious! According to the quiz, I'm 87% Russian. I am a czar in the bedroom and I know several creative uses for crude oil! ILMAO!

Give it a try and let us know what your sexual nationality is. LOL

What's your vampire name?

In light of yesterday's movie rant, I thought we could all (especially me LOL) use something more fun. I don't like to post negative things, so I don't do it often. It makes me feel bad. Simple as that.

So, today's blog is about vampire names. Here's what the name generator said about me and my husband.

My vampire name:

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Genevieve Tussaud
Known in some parts of the world as: Athene of The Winged Death
The Great Archives Record:
Comes on silent wings in the night and wraps a deadly cloak about the victim; impartial as a die, unyielding as stone.

My husband's vampire name:

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Uriel Tussaud
Known in some parts of the world as: Metatron of The Highway Thieves

The Great Archives Record:
Takes more than gold from the rich on the highway - takes blood too.

Okay, so mine is pretty creepy, but I got a kick out of his, "takes blood too," ILMAO.
Put in your friend's names too and see what it comes up with. Be warned, you could easily waste five minutes or more playing with this generator.
Have fun.

If Kingpin was a chick

Okay, so that's not very PC, but it was a heck of a lot of fun. A good friend of mine is a photographer, when he's not busy being a scientist. (no kidding) And most of the time, I'm his model. A couple of weeks ago we had our second official photo shoot and it was a blast.

We actually got the shot we were looking for with the first picture. The rest of the day we goofed off and took some shots like these. I've always wanted to play a character like Kingpin. LOL It suits my personality. So, just for fun and because I think my readers (who are also my friends) will get a kick out of it .... TADA!

If Kingpin (from the DareDevil comic, for those not familiar) was a chick.

I needed a laugh real bad

So, here it is. Seventh Sanctum has something that is called a Writing Challenge Generator. (among other things) This site is great for a laugh and occasionally a real live idea. I could easily waste hours getting bits and pieces of comical characters or trying to come up with a story that fits these guidelines

"The story is set in a desecrated temple. The story takes place in mid-winter. The story must have a duck in it."

ILMAO

It's very creative and lots of fun. When you get a chance, take a look:)

http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=writechallenge

But my all time favorite part of the site is the Humorous Monster Generator.

Have fun:)

Sleep At Last

Thank God Almighty. For the past two nights I have slept (as the expression goes) like a rock. Not only am I relieved to finally have rest, but I was running out of appropriate bedtime stories. Trust me, you do not want to fall asleep reading the Tell Tale Heart. My husband gets up in the middle of the night, something creaks, I jump up, thinking that some old man's eyeball is underneath the floor. LOL You get the point.

I've never figured it out, but from time to time I just get insomnia. So does my mom, always has. Anyway, I'm about to start for the day on my current work in progress. Though I've not yet decided on a name for the book, it involves a luscious master vampire that I am really enjoying getting to know. I find that it is easier to get into his head, even though I just created his character about a week ago, than some of the characters I've known for years. He just ... comes to me. But, that's a good thing:) I can't wait to finish the book, find it a home, and share it with my readers. You're going to love him too. His name is Viktor.

Sex Aids on Retail Shelves?

It doesn't really bother me personally. But I can see how this could potentially offend a lot of people. Here's the article to which I'm referring.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/110965/page/1

I'm all for being liberated and do not personally have a problem with the situation. My only drawback to having more obviously sexual products on the shelves would be having to explain them to my son. I've seen most of these products in Wal-Mart, right at the end of the shampoo isle. I normally strike up a conversation on our way to get shampoo so as to keep him from getting distracted, thus wondering to the end of the isle and saying, "Mom, what’s a Little Gem for?" LOL Actually, they don't sell the Little Gem vibrator at Wallyworld, but you get my point.

The article also talks about the ban on certain products in Alabama. I don't live too far from the state line and have known several women in AL over the years who are pissed about this issue. I mean, who wants to go all the way to Panama City to buy a vibrator?

I do think that as a society we need to stop being so embarrassed by issues dealing with sexual health. For instance when a lot of people hear that there are sex scenes in my books they say something along the lines of, "*gasp* how can you write about stuff like that?" Stuff like what? Sex is a part of life.

Now, picturing my grandmother trying to figure out what some of these products are for, that's a different story. LOL Personally, I'm glad to see The Red Light Special making it's way to store shelves.

Morning Musings

Nothing puts me in the mood to write more than a cool rainy day, which is exactly what we have here in Northwest Florida this morning. I know a lot of people get depressed when the sky is grey and overcast, but I love it. I love the rain and the sound it makes when it hits the tall pine trees outside my window. I love the puddles it makes on the ground. It's almost like an over pouring of natures emotions.

So, here I sit, coffee in hand and I'm about to start working on a new story. Actually, I started making notes a couple of days ago:) I can't wait to finish the scene I have in mind. I have no idea yet what to call this story. However, the hero keeps intruding on my thoughts. The story begins with these line, "The black-cloaked figure waited silently at the end of the path. And as he waited, his hunger grew."

I can see him now, the hood of his long cloak pulled up to cover his long dark hair. His silvery grey eyes glinting in the faint light of the moon. And the cool wind, blowing past my face, brining with it the scent of his cologne. Ahhhh. I love vampires.

Don't worry, there's a hot werewolf in this story too. I have no idea what I'm going to do to him yet, but I have plans for my vampire. *insert wicked laugh here.* LOL

Fashion Macabre

That's the name of my new Cafe Press store. The store, like me, is just a little bit warped. Here you can find Club Red T-shirts as well as Pack Leader shirts for your dog. There are also some fun "gag" items that you're sure to love.

Check it out:

It's still a work in progress:)
