Why I've started writing serials

I've had a lot of people ask about this recently. The simplest answer is, it was a business decision that I felt I needed to make. I didn't realize until I made this choice how many people didn't like (or downright hate) serials. As a reader, I've never had a problem with them. Sure, you get a cliffhanger for a little while, but it's not permanent. I only have an issue with cliffhangers when a book leaves off like that for good, or if it does continue, you have to wait for a year. That's ridiculous!

But, for those wondering, here is a more detailed answer about why I've started writing serials. And for those who don't know the difference (because at first I didn't either) here's what a serial and a series is.

A serial is a story with multiple chapters. You need to read them in a certain order to get the full picture.

A series is a group of stories with something (or lots of somethings) in common. For example, reoccurring characters that share a different chapter in their lives each time.

My Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter series fits the second definition.

In the past I've done strictly novel-length works and a few short stories. With the exception of the Lilith books, all were stand alone books. Am I ever going to stop writing novel-length books? Of course not. But I don't have any planned in the near future.

The market is changing, and it's changing fast. This is my career. I don't have a day job, or any other job that pays my bills. This is it. I write for a living. Therefore, I have to stay up to date on current trends.

Does that mean I jump on every bandwagon? No. I'm not a big fan of bandwagons in general. LOL However, when a trend becomes so widespread, I can't help but take notice.

Lots of people are not only writing serials, but lots of readers are buying them.

I've heard the argument that writers break stories up just so they can make more money. While I can't speak for everyone, I CAN say that is NOT my reasoning.

Writers are putting out stories left, right, and sideways, and if you want to keep your name out there, you have to publish works at a comparable pace. That's just the way it is.

Can I write enough 50-80,000 word novels to put out a book EVERY MONTH in order to compete with that kind of release schedule? Not just no, but HELL no.

(I get that average figure from a lot of sources. It all depends on where you publish and who you learned from, blah, blah, blah. This is just an example.)

I love my job, but there are other things that I need to do. Not to mention other things that I would like to do, like actually see my friends and family.

If I write a 50,000 word novel, and divide it into say 4 installments released one month apart, that gives me 4 months worth of new releases. This helps to keep my name and my brand in front of readers. Plus those who follow along as the story is released will get the whole book at a slight discount if they buy it in 99 cent segments.

By the end of this year, I will have had 7 releases ranging from 30,000-85,000 words each. I am exhausted.

If I write 3 novel-length (50-80,000 words) books for next year and release them in 4 segments each, that means that I have a solid 12 months of releases.

No matter how much advertising you do (and that can be a money pit) you can't get better exposure than a steady stream of new releases.

I'm still writing the kinds of stories that I love and that my readers have come to expect. I'm simply changing the way that they are released. If I don't, I might disappear entirely and as I've said before, this is how I make my living.

My decision to start writing serials isn't to spite anyone, copy anyone, or disappoint readers. I would never want to do any of those. I'm just trying to survive in a changing market so that I can continue to do what I love for a living.

Right now, I'm working on a new serial that I plan to release sometime in 2016. I'm almost finished with the first installment. Oh, and I already have my cover art. Here is the cover for book one.

It's alive!

Ha. Ha. Ha. Sorry for the bad Frankenstein reference, but I have been working with Notte Oscura again. For those not familiar, that's the theme park from Frank and The Werewolf Tamer.

Anyway, I just realized that I've only blogged ONCE since the New Year started and thought, "Holy crap! People will think I'm dead!" LOL

So, I'm not dead. Try to control your disappointment. (Yes, that's a joke.) I got an early start today and I'm feeling really good. Already finished my workout, cleaned the house, and got at least one cup of coffee in me. Now, I just need to write something.

Oh, and that brings me back to my point. I'm pinging this morning like an old game of Pong. LOL

I have been working so hard that I've forgotten to blog! Here's an update on what I've been doing. Some of it is work/writing related, some isn't.

The Bound by Blood series is complete, and is now being released in serialized installments of 40-20,000 words each. Here is the release schedule and current books available for those interested. Each segment will be 99 cents.

Bound by Blood Release Schedule:

Book One - Oriana's Curse - Available now
Book Two - Demon's Embrace - May 2015
Book Three - Dragon Slayer Dreams - August 2015
Book Four - Enter the She-Dragon - November 2015
All parts will be available on Kindle Unlimited

Book One, Oriana's Curse is out now and Book Two, Demon's Embrace is up for pre-order. Just click the images for more information.

Other than making sure that this series was fully edited, along with all the other things that happen before a book is released, I've been writing new stuff.

I just finished a novella called Sacrifice that will be out sometime in October. It will first be part of an anthology (more news on that as the date gets closer) and then released as a single title. I still have a lot of work to do on this one, but the majority of the work, and the basic story, is finished. Yay!

I'm about halfway finished with another novella, though this one will be longer, that returns to Notte Oscura. I've gotten a lot of requests to write more in the same world as Frank and the Werewolf Tamer. This story has been a reader favorite ever since its release in 2011. Now, finally, a new story is going to happen.

The title for this one is Night Touch. It is about a woman who has visions based on touch, skin against skin contact. She comes to Notte Oscura to escape her nightmares one night and meets Kurtis. Lots of familiar faces (because I see them all so clearly) are returning in this one.

Night Touch will be released this fall as part of a Carnival series. More details on that later as well. I can say that many other authors are involved in this one, not just myself. And of course, I think it will be amazeballs. Wow. I just said amazeballs. Maybe I've had too much caffeine. LOL

Anyway, once I finish Night Touch and get it off to my editor, I'd like to write another series. No promises on this at the moment as I've barely made any notes at all. But, my muse is going crazy with new ideas. I'd really like to write a series that delves more into fantasy creatures, dark faeries, mythology, and all that good stuff. If anything comes of it, I'll be sure to let you all know.

In the meantime, just know that I am working my butt off.

I've also been doing a lot of gardening. Good grief this post is running long. Ha. Ha. I'm doing a lot of projects around the house. Fixing things up, trying to improve the landscape, etc. Sure, I could hire someone, but I really need the exercise and I enjoy the work.

Speaking of exercise, I'm trying to incorporate more into my daily life also. I had gotten so focused on work that over the holidays I completely stopped working out. Ugh! I hate it when that happens. Now it's time to break the bad habits of eating junk food and sitting on my ass.

Okay, I'm going to stop rambling and get back to writing Night Touch and drinking coffee. Have a good one!

The Bleeding Heart is available for PRE-ORDER on Amazon!

I am so excited! I had no idea that Amazon allowed pre-order status for independently published books. :) Apparently, I've done something special to qualify for pre-order status. LOL At least, I like to think I'm special. The point is, I can now list my books up to 90 days before their release dates. This is awesome! That means that readers can go ahead and order them while they are thinking about it, and don't have to worry about remembering a release date. Plus, it takes a load off my mind about getting the books uploaded EXACTLY on time.

Most of my books end up being released about a day early. It's not that I'm wishy-washy or anything. When you upload to Amazon through KDP, you are told that it takes anywhere from 12-24 hours for your book to go live on the site. When I tell readers a date, I like to stick to that. I'm all about being on schedule. With this new pre-order thing, Amazon will make sure the book goes live precisely when it is supposed to. I am thrilled about that.

I'm so glad I had the cover art and everything ready ahead of time. :) Now, all I've got to do is be sure to upload the finished product by Sept. 21st. I'm almost finished with my final read-through now. So, provided that my editor/partner in crime doesn't make any more corrections, we'll be in business for the October 1st release date.

Here are all the details on The Bleeding Heart.

****This title is currently available for PRE-ORDER. The official release date is October 1, 2014.****

This is Book Six in the Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter Series.

Lilith is finally coming to terms with who she is and the powers she's inherited. For the first time she accepts her scars, the ones you can see and the ones you can't. Her relationship with Dracula progresses as Marco continues to decide where he stands. Marco is slowly learning what Lilith already knows. He belongs with her, as does Dracula...and maybe Bade too.

Warning: This book contains graphic violence, graphic language, and sex. Plus several sexy werewolves, and one smoking hot vampire.

On a side note, thank you so much for everyone who has written to ask about the next book in the series. There will be one final book after this one, After Dark. That one is coming in January, 2015. It does my heart good to know that a story that I love so much is also loved by so many others. :)

I'm doing very well

I haven't blogged as much about myself lately. I've been sharing new release/sales news and such, but hadn't given an update on myself. Thanks to the people who cared enough to send me a message on FB or Twitter and ask. :)

I'm doing very well. My pumpkin garden is bigger than ever this year and so far we are getting enough rain that we don't have to carry 5 gallon buckets of water to it. LOL That's always a good thing. Seeing those little pumpkins grow reminds me of fall and how much I love it.

I'm well on my way to being in better shape than I have been since I was a cheerleader in high school. Yes, I was a cheerleader. A captain. LOL And I was good at it. I was a regular little Buffy the Vampire Slayer in my teens.

Speaking of Buffy, I'm having a great time reading as many of the old books as I can get my hands on. Some of you already know, I'm a big fan of the TV series. (Even though I didn't start watching it until a few years ago.) Now, I'm looking to collect all of the season 8 comics (the TV series ended with season 7) so I can see what happens to Willow and Xander. I love them. Not that I didn't care about Buffy. She was beginning to redeem herself in the end. Between seasons 5 and 6, she was just such a raging bitch that I found it hard to sympathize with her character. I'm a raging bitch sometimes and I haven't been through everything she had though. So, to be fair, I probably would have taken over the world and found a way to resurrect The Master to make porn movies, IF I'd gone through everything she had. Maybe she didn't deal with it as badly as I thought. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm just now getting some coffee today, so I'll blame it on lack of caffeine. I've started back with cross training 4-6 days a week (depending on my energy level) and added in swimming. I've never been a strong swimmer. In fact, I was downright terrified of water for most of my life. But here's the thing about me. I don't like being afraid of anything. Living in fear is unacceptable. Therefore, I swim 2-3 days a week for 1-2 hours at a time and I'm getting pretty damn good at it. The place where I go has an Olympic size pool and I can breast stroke across the middle, then immediately turn and do a hand over hand stroke all the way back without getting tired. No other exercise has ever worked my back so well. I'm very pleased with the results so far. Not to mention, swimming is great at reducing stress, something that I'm still working on.

I've got something special planned to help promote the last 2 books in the Lilith Mercury series, and I happen to need to be in great shape to pull it off. LOL I'm not going to say more now, but it's a big deal to me and will be a huge accomplishment once I get there.

My brain is beginning to feel slightly refreshed. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on (that interests me, of course) and catching up on TV shows. Believe it or not, bombarding my brain with stories that have nothing to do with mine actually HELPS me write. I love reading horror. It's like an energy drink for my brain. Ha. Ha.

I'm planning to take a bit more time off from writing (I'm still promoting, so I'm not just sitting on my butt), read some more Dean Koontz, and jump back into the Lilith series in September.

Okay, that's all for now. I'm off to workout. :)

overbearing alpha who she’s been promised to – only to be drawn back into the
world she thought she left behind. It just so happens that not only is her

Quick Update

I have been really, really busy lately. I just finished a new short story for The Naughty Box 2 called "Beautiful Nightmare." It's about a witch and The Boogeyman, and I loved writing it. That should be out sometime in July.

Now, I'm back to work on the 7th book in the Lilith Mercury series. As I've said before, I want to have time to read through both 6 and 7 to check for continuity before The Bleeding Heart (Book 6) is released this October.

Anyway, I thought I would share links here to all the books in the series that are currently available. I get letters fairly often from people who don't realize that books 4 and 5 are already out. :)

So, here they are, and thank you very much for reading my books. I am thrilled to hear that people are enjoying this series, because I love to write it.

This is a collection of the first three books in the Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter series. This series focuses on the life of Lilith Mercury, a werewolf Hunter who is also half werewolf. Did I mention there are several sexy men in her life? This story has graphic violence, and graphic sex. It also has a new take on the origins of werewolves and vampires. There are many ups and downs in Lilith’s life and much more to come.
This series gets hotter as it goes. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this series.
This set includes:
1. Red
2. Object of My Affection
3. The Dread Moon

This is Book Four in the Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter series.
Peter was Lilith's first love--and the first person to call her a monster. Despite their past, Lilith would save him if she could, but when Peter is infected with lycanthropy and becomes determined to challenge Marco for the position of lupinus regalis, wolf king, she faces a hard choice.

Warning: This book contains graphic sex, graphic violence, and graphic language. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this book.

This is Book Five in the Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter series.
Lilith's life is starting to work out for a change. Her relationship with alpha werewolf Marco is going great. There's only one problem: Dracula is dying. Not from lack of blood, but for her love. Dracula would never ask Lilith to risk her happiness for him and so he suffers in silence. That is until Lilith finds out. She must come to terms with her feelings for Dracula and realize that the vampire is just as much a part of her as Marco. But if she accepts this, where does that leave the wolf king?"

WARNING: This book contains graphic violence, graphic language, and graphic sex with more than one partner. Oh, and more wicked sexy characters than can be listed here.

A Dream Forbidden is out early!

For everyone who has been waiting for the next installment in the Lilith Mercury series, here it is. :)

This is the fastest I've ever had a book go live on Amazon. Ha. Ha. I just uploaded it a few hours ago, expecting it to go live March 1st.

Thank you so much to everyone who has read this far in the series. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support. I am deeply touched by how many people have told me they can relate to Lilith and the struggles she faces. I appreciate every single one of you, and the love you have given to this series that is so close to my heart. Don't worry, there is still more to come.

A Dream Forbidden will be out in MARCH 2014

First let me say, I am thrilled that so many people are digging the Lilith Mercury series. Thank you all very much. :) I've been getting a lot of questions about the 5th book.

A Dream Forbidden was with a publisher at one time, but that contract has long since expired. (This was my choice.) For that reason, there is still an old picture up on Amazon and a few outrageously priced copies in print. I have no control over that, and I am sorry.

Since it was previously published, A Dream Forbidden has been professionally edited 3 more times, as well as proofed by myself and my writing partner/editor, and it now has new cover art.

Another thing I can't change that is causing some confusion is the book apparently has some reviews and such on Goodreads. I can certainly understand why that would cause confusion. Again, I can't change it and I apologize.

I don't want people to think that I'm just taking the book off the market or something. LOL I would NEVER do that.

Release dates are determined based on my schedule, and in many cases (such as with a previously published book) for legal reasons.

My plan is to have a total of 7 books in this series. I had originally thought I would do more, but this just seems like the right time/way for things to come to a close.

So, there will be 3 more books.

A DREAM FORBIDDEN - MARCH 2014

THE BLEEDING HEART - FALL/WINTER 2014

AFTER DARK - NO RELEASE DATE YET

I am spending my every spare moment working on this series, but it does take time. Once again, I am deeply and sincerely grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response this series has received.

However, if the threats and angry letters could stop now because the next book isn't out yet, that would be great. ;)

No, I'm not joking.

Update:  I just wanted to add that I love hearing from readers. And I certainly do not mind being asked questions. I'm not talking about all the polite emails like, "When is the next book coming out?" Or "I see it listed on Amazon, but can't find it. What's up?"

Oh, no. I'm talking about, "Where the F**K is the next book you evil BITCH?!!!!!!!"

Frankenstein: Unleashed

Here are all the details on my upcoming release, Frankenstein: Unleashed. I thoroughly enjoyed writing this book. It was a little scary sometimes how easy it was for me to get into the mind of Victor Frankenstein. He was actually the easiest character to write about. I'm not sure what that says about me, but I hope readers enjoy the story. On a side note, I am very proud of the way this cover turned out. I think it's one of my best yet. :)

COMING JANUARY 2014

Elizabeth has kept her family secret well. As the last in a long line of witches, her dreams are prophetic. And Elizabeth dreams of murder. She knows that men are being killed exactly as she sees in her visions, but she has no means to stop their slaughter. Her dreams are not the only thing troubling her. With an engagement to Victor Frankenstein that has lasted for years, she has begun to believe that her destiny lies elsewhere. That destiny is revealed in her dreams in one instant and taken away in the next. Grief-stricken and afraid, she follows where her heart leads … to the body of Victor’s latest experiment.

Scarred at a young age by the death of his beloved mother, Victor Frankenstein has become fascinated with the possibility of bringing the dead back to life. After years of secret research, he has achieved some small measure of success. Though, he should have been more careful when he chose his last victim.

For Elizabeth accidentally gives life to the creation that Victor could not. He awakens with no memory, a body not his own, and only the name that she gives him … Lucian.

Warning: This story contains graphic violence, sex, and some graphic language.

Friday the 13th and Dracula

Friday the 13th has always been my lucky day. I think it started when I was little. I was sick of hearing people say, "Oh, I'm not going anywhere tomorrow, it's Friday the 13th," or some crap along those lines. So, I started to say, "It's my lucky day."

Having said that, I'm sure you all understand why I chose today to release my new book. Dracula: In the Flesh is more than just a new release, and not just because of sentimental reasons. This is a bit of a new venture for me. Dracula: In the Flesh is my first erotic horror novel and I have decided to release it under the name T.K. Hardin.

It's not the kind of pen name I have to keep strictly separate or that I want/need to hide. So, why a pen name at all? Because this story is different enough that I want to give some kind of signal. I do not want to offend my regular readers.

When I say there is horror, there is bloody, violent horror. Sometimes, it is mixed with eroticism, making it truly disturbing. I want people to know they are getting something different. There are elements of horror in many of my other books, but not like this.

I have put warnings in as many places as I could in regards to content. Ha. Ha. Ha. This is to avoid angry emails or reviews that say, "OMG! That was violent/scary! I didn't expect that!"

So, if you're ready for some violence, terror, and a haunting good love story, give Dracula: In the Flesh a try. Did I mention how freaking sexy Dracula is? Do I really need to?

Jonathan Harker, a young English lawyer, is traveling to Castle Dracula in order to finalize a real estate transaction. He has been personally requested by Count Dracula. What Jonathan doesn't realize is that Dracula’s interests do not lie with him, but with his beautiful fiancée, Mina.

As soon as he saw her face, Dracula knew the ritual was a success. After all these long years, his love has returned to him. However, many things (such as Van Helsing and Jonathan Harker) stand in the way of their happiness. Sure, he could kill them all and take what he wants. However, his greatest desire is not to possess Mina, but to love her and have her return his love.

Therefore, Dracula’s fate and the fate of those closest to her lie in Mina’s hands. She has dreamed of him all her life. But what will she do when she learns her dark prince is real? What will happen when she knows him, not as a dream, but in the flesh?

WARNING: This book contains graphic violence, and graphic sex. This is NOT a romance novel, although there is a romance involved. This is Erotic Horror and might offend some readers.

Coming Attractions

I am officially caught up for a short while. To be more precise, I'm about 2 months ahead of schedule with releases and re-releases. My brand new book, is in the hands of my writing partner for edits. I've just finished re-editing Till the Break of Dawn and adding about 3,000 words of new content. Till the Break of Dawn is finished, formatted, and ready to go. Expect this one the first week in September, 2013.

Book details: Thanks to a bet with her best friend, Dawn is about to get involved with the undead love of her life for the second time. So what if he's immortal. It could work, right?

Warning: This book contains graphic sex, graphic language, and one smoking hot vampire.

I'm about to start working on Three Days of Night. I'm hoping to add content to this one as well. But, that all depends on if the characters have anything new to say. LOL Expect this one in December, 2013, probably the week before Christmas.

Book details: Vivian didn’t have the power nor the desire to resist the sexy djinn when he said, “Let me give you clarity. For three days your life will be on pause. The sun will not rise and your ship will not make port. Everything will appear to continue, only it will not. Enjoy these moments … Get to know me if you like. These three days are my gift to you. Should you desire more, all you have to do is ask.”

Warning: This book contains graphic sex (with multiple partners), and graphic language. Oh, and did I mention the wicked sexy djinn? Yeah, he needs a warning all his own.

I did the cover art on both of these myself. The more I do, the more I love making covers.

I will have more updates soon, and more blog posts. It's summer vacation here and we are enjoying it while we can.

What is relaxation?

Don't ask me. It would appear that I no longer understand the concept. Relaxation is what I thought I was going to do today. I had plans to sit with my dog and watch TV, never changing out of my pajamas. I've earned it. My plan in January was to take the year off from new projects and re-release all my backlist books that were no longer under contract. So, that's what I've done and I've busted my ass at it too.

I just re-released Wicked City a week ago, and The Dread Moon two weeks before that. This year I've re-released, SIX books! Not only am I adding new content and proofing thoroughly once again (and so is my writing partner), I'm doing the cover art for these books. Don't get me wrong, I love every minute of it, but I'm tired. I need to workout more and clean my house. LOL

So, my plan for the day got changed slightly. I said, "Okay, I'll clean the house, and then watch some TV with Roscoe." That quickly got changed to include checking my email and Facebook.

The next thing I know, I'm sitting here re-formatting the next book on my list, Eden. Why? Well, one reason is I feel compelled to do so. I feel as if I can't work on something completely new until I finish putting these backlist titles back out there for readers. I hope that makes sense to someone besides me. If it doesn't, just blame it on OCD.

I would like to finish the Bound by Blood trilogy I started working on. I would also like to write books 6 and 7 in the Lilith Mercury series. However, I can't take on either of these projects because my mind will not stop focusing on the backlist that needs to be finished. I have no idea once I'm caught up, which of these projects will be finished first.

I know there are many readers waiting to see what happens to Lilith and I know that no one likes to wait. I do apologize, but rushing the story would make it less than what I intended. I'm sure no one wants that. I do need to rest my mind here and there.

I thought I would at least take the holidays off, but it appears I am not capable. Although, I'm still wearing my pajamas. At least one part of the plan didn't change.

Vampires, werewolves, and a deadline

Yep, that's what's on my mind these days. LOL I'm going to give a really quick update on the current status of my projects.

The Dread Moon, Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter, Book Three - This is finished! I've sent the final version (with almost 3,000 words of new content) to my writing partner and editor for one last go-over. (That's a word, right?) All that's left is to hear back if changes/corrections need to be made, and work on the cover art. I've found the perfect images, it's just a matter of getting a moment to create the artwork. I think it's going to be great.

The Eternal Kiss - This is an erotic paranormal, short novella. Right now, I'm editing it once more myself, before sending it to my writing partner. Then, I've got to file copyright (Copyright on the Lilith Mercury books were filed years ago), and work on the artwork. Hopefully, this one will be out within the next month or so.

I've also been working to get Diary of an Incubus listed on every site possible and in every format. Unfortunately, I believe the server my computer uses to access the All Romance Ebooks and Smashwords sites has been knocked out by the storm. So, there will be a slight delay in listing Diary of an Incubus on these sites. Now that the Kindle Select (Amazon) agreement has ended, that book is going up everywhere. Doing this with my other titles has doubled my sales, just FYI for anyone who might find the info useful.

The re-release of Wicked City has been pushed back until 2013. Why? Because I've got a new idea, possibly for a trilogy. I put this story, Bound by Blood on hold six months ago because I simply had too many things going on to give it the proper attention. Now, it won't go away. I keep getting new ideas and just as soon as I can, I must work on it.

Okay, that's the latest on me and my work. New stuff coming, older books re-vamped (LOL), and still more to come.

To all my friends on the east coast, stay safe. As a native of Florida, I'm no stranger to storms. I feel your pain.

Constant Cravings was on Bloomberg!

Okay, so it was only for a few seconds. LOL But still, how cool is that? I was catching up on emails this morning when I started looking through the digest from the Ellora's Cave author group. Someone posted a link to an interview with the company's CEO, Patty Marks. Okay, that's worth watching, I thought. So, I clicked the link.

Not only was it worth watching as a fabulous piece of industry news, it was seriously GREAT press for Ellora's Cave. And seeing my book in the background was an added bonus.

So, without further rambling, here's the link to the article.

http://www.bloomberg.com/video/90712733/

They show my new release Constant Cravings TWICE in the background! The picture is small, but it's there! LOL

Some people may not get how much I'm excited about this. But, to have my book flashed briefly in the background in an interview where J.K. Rowling is mentioned AND Ellora's Cave, AND erotic romance are discussed, I am THRILLED.

Self publishing, writing, and life in general

Boy is that ever a random post title. But, it's the best way I could sum things up. I've been busy. I have a new book out. It's not new to everyone, but it will be new to lots of people. The rights to Diary of an Incubus have recently reverted to me. The contract was up and I chose not to renew. This was not for any malicious reasons. I'm saying this now because I don't want any rumors to get started.

My reasoning was simple. The book wasn't selling. Period. Naturally, I examined all the reasons this might be. I also took a good hard look at the story itself, let several people (who aren't my closest friends) read it. I believed in it, but was that good enough? I looked at the book as a product rather than "my baby."

Much to my relief and delight, everyone who read it at my request, loved it. With that in mind I (and my writing partner) re-edited the book. I revised some scenes and added in a few thousand words of new content.

Plus, I designed my very own, smokin' hot new cover, and re-worded the blurb. I feel like I've done the best I can to make this book appealing. I haven't dressed up crap and tried to make it smell good. I've enhanced a good story that I believe in. It is my hope that everyone will find it as entertaining as I do.

On a side note, I decided to upload this story to both Smashwords and Amazon. The reason I did this (besides trying to gain the most exposure possible) is that I've seen no benefit in listing exclusively with Amazon. That's what I did with Frank and The Werewolf Tamer. As soon as my KDP 90 day agreement is up, I'll be listing that book on Smashwords as well. However, Frank and The Werewolf Tamer has remained in the to 25,000 at Amazon for most of the past month (several times it went higher, even in the top 2,000). So, sales aren't bad by any means.

I figured my fellow authors who are considering self-publishing might like to know all this. :)

Now, without further ado, here is a peek at my latest release. On a side note, thank you to all of my loyal readers. If you can't purchase the book right now, but want to show your support. Please, stop by the page and click "like." Thanks:)

Jewel Mathers needed a good story for her next novel. She turned to the ancient journals in desperation. But fame and fortune comes with a price … and a couple of hot vampires.

WARNING: This story contains violence, lots of sex, and some frightening creatures. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this book.

NOTE: This book was previously published elsewhere. It has been re-edited, revised, and expanded.

Ring in the New Year with a good book

This is an open promotional opportunity for all authors who are looking to promote their books, regardless of genre. Here's how it works. In the comments, leave a blurb/details for your book and a purchase link. It'd be great if you could return the favor by having a similar post on your blog. If you do, please leave us the link for that as well. This will be open from now through New Years day, all day.

All I ask is that the blurb be PG-13 as this is not an adult rated blog. Even though I write erotic romance, I'd like for most anyone to be able to read my blog.

Okay, I'll go first. My latest book is called Frank and The Werewolf Tamer. It's about a vampire who gets involved with a modern (and sexy) version of Frankenstein.

Here are the details:

Katherine has had a hard time finding work, mostly because she’s a vampire. Turns out, people aren’t clamoring to work with the undead. She goes to the massive theme park, Notte Oscura, as a last resort. However, she soon finds there is more waiting for her than just a job.

Frank and The Werewolf Tamer is out!

This is my very first self-published book as well as my first experience with Amazon's Kindle exclusive lending library. (Kindle Prime members can read the book for free.) It'll probably be some time yet before I know how this venture will work out. But, I must say once I got the formatting thing down, it wasn't that difficult. With a bit of practice ( like doing this 2 or 3 times) that should be easy.

Designing the cover art was also not a big deal. Actually, I loved it. For the first time I had complete control over what was on the cover of my book. I only hope that my tastes as an artist and a writer are as pleasing to readers as they were to me.

Before my actions can be misunderstood, I have no intentions of leaving the world of traditional publishing. This is an experiment, one that I hope goes very well. I want to be able to offer readers better prices and also be able to pay my bills. It's a simple as that.

Without further rambling (because I'm writing this at 4:30 a.m.) here are the details on my latest book. (Drum roll please)

Katherine has had a hard time finding work, mostly because she’s a vampire. Turns out, people aren’t clamoring to work with the undead. She goes to the massive theme park, Notte Oscura, as a last resort. After she watches his sexy “Frankenstein” act, Frank Eastwick hires her on the spot. They are in need of a new werewolf tamer and he has no doubt that she can do the job. Katherine soon learns that there’s more to this hunk than his gorgeous body and numerous scars. Things are working out for Katherine for the first time in years. That is until the vampire who bit her decides to pay them a visit.

Do headless chickens really run?

I don't know, but considering how busy I've been this month, I've wondered more than once. Ha. Ha. I've had a lot going on. Besides the holidays quickly approaching, I've been working on several new projects. Plus, I've been trying desperately to keep up with a new workout program. The workout program had to be put on pause due to a stomach flu. I'm all better now and ready to give it another shot after Thanksgiving.

As for the writing stuff (cause I hate to call something I love work), allow me to catch you up.

I'm thrilled to say that I finally finished Shaman's Touch. Very soon now, I'll be finished with my final read-through and sending it off to my editor. Ah, that's a great feeling.

Plus (and even more exciting) my editor at Ellora's Cave, Raelene Gorlinsky mentioned me in a post on USA Today's new HEA (Happily Ever After) blog! I was so shocked and pleased to see she recommended Raven's Destiny.

As for other news, I've had a new release this month, Touch of an Incubus, and I'm still trying to spread the word.

Like I said, I've often wondered if chickens really do run around with their heads cut off. It feels as if I cannot catch my breath these past few weeks. If I can only finish cleaning my house, I think I'll call it good enough.

Is it just me or do other writers have difficulty catching their breath some months? Actually, I think most people in general have difficulty this time of year. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Have a great Thanksgiving! I'll stop rambling now. I promise. Hey, the top of this blog does warn about the occasional ramblings.

My NaNoWriMo project is finished!

Already? Yep. And the month isn't even over yet! I'm so proud. Tonight I finished Shaman's Touch. I've been working on this book off and on (between other projects) for over a year. Now, I can honestly say I believe this is the best book I've written so far and I can't wait for my fans to read it.

I put lots of time, research and much of my knowledge of the fairy world into this book. Not to mention some hilarious moments. These characters wouldn't shut up, so there's lots of dialogue. But, according to all my reviewers and readers, dialogue is something I'm good at. *big grin*

I'm gonna do another thorough self-edit, maybe embellish a bit here and there, but the project is basically done. Once I add a bit more polish, it's off it my editor. I hope she loves it like I do :)

By the way, I've written 19,022 words in the past 5 days. I'm gonna rest my fingers now. Wait ... where the hell is that smoke coming from?
