The Final Lilith book is finished and I'm taking a break. :)

I finished drafting the 7th and final book in the Lilith Mercury series this past Saturday. So, why am I just now blogging about it? Because my wrists hurt like hell. In fact, I'm going to make this post brief so I don't further aggravate them as they are recovering well.

The 6th book in the series, The Bleeding Heart, is still scheduled for release in October. Amazon can sometimes put things out early or a few hours later than intended, depending on when it is approved after being uploaded. But, I'm shooting for October 1, 2014.

After Dark, the 7th book, is scheduled for release January 2015. I had to write the last 20,000 words of this one with pen and paper because it hurt too much to type.

My plan is to take a few months off, and finish typing the end of the book in September. ;) After that, I'm going to let it sit until December. Why? So that I can look at it with fresh eyes and be sure it is everything it needs to be before it goes out in January. This is the end of the series, and I don't want to leave anything out.

In the meantime, I'm not typing anything except a few brief messages in email or on Facebook. :) If I feel like my wrists are doing REALLY well, I might blog again in a week or so.

This is the first break I've had between books in just over 4 years. I think I more than deserve it. Of course, that doesn't mean I get to sit on my ass. I just won't be writing. LOL

An excerpt for my work in progress

I don't want to give too much away, but this project has been a long time coming for me. I've only been working on it since last month, but I've wanted take on this particular story for many years. Here's a short clip. I hope you enjoy it.


The full moon lit the night like dawn. Soft rain and mist reflected the moonlight, looking like diamonds scattered about the grass, dancing from the petals of roses. And in the midst of it all stood my prince, waiting for me. The rain sparkled against his long hair and bare chest. I’ve never seen anything so lovely.

He reached for me and as I moved forward, I looked down to see I was wearing a long black robe. The material felt wonderful against my skin. It was then I knew I was naked underneath. But my prince beckoned me, and I went to him, no longer caring that I wore naught but a robe. It was his robe. I knew this as I looked into his eyes, just as surely as if he’d communicated the thought.

“I envy this robe,” he said as I reached him.

“But why, my prince?”

He pulled me against him and the rain grew harder as if to match his passion. “Because it wraps around you in ways I cannot.”

About the space opera I'm working on

I think this space opera is going to be great once I get finished. Here's the plot so far. There are five intergalactic mercenaries who, because of the side they take in a war, get accidentally labeled as superheroes. LOL

Beyond that, there are two crew members who have a relationship they are trying to deny developing between them. It's some pretty hot stuff. Right now I'm about 34 pages in and we're on our way to rescue a friend from a sex slave trade on a foreign planet. Woohoo!

Oh, I forgot to mention it still has paranormal elements. One of the main characters is a part of an endangered species ... vampires.

Blah, Blah, Blah

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been really busy with a little of this and that. One of my friends is about to have a baby any day now, so I've been spending some time with her. We've been crab fishing and to the beach several times. (Yes, the pregnant lady too. lol) None of us particularly like the sun, so we've been going at night. lol

Besides that, I've started a new book. The working title is The Night Shift. It's a space opera, my very first. If you're wondering what a space opera is, please dismiss ideas of someone in a phantom mask singing about his loneliness in space. hahahha

A space opera is like a soap opera, it just takes place in space. Of course, there are other more genre specific things that define it, but that's a pretty simple way to sum it up.

I should be writing right now. I'm really running on empty here. I've been too busy. I need to be working, plus I think I should just go ahead and realize that my critique partner is gone. Not to get into details, but I think the part of her life where she listens to (and helps proof read) my stories is over. I should just suck it up and get used to doing it by myself.

Holy crap I'm tired. I'm gonna try to get some writing done before I have to go to my other job.

The weather isn't quite frightful

But I still have a nice fire:) There was actually frost on the ground this morning. It's been a long time since I've seen that. I love cold weather. I just realized it had been a while since a posted an update on here. So, I figured I'd tell a little bit about what I've been up to.

I'm working on a new short story. So far this work is going to be highly erotic. The working title is Once in a Blue Moon. That is subject to change, of course, but so far so good. Naturally, it's about a hot motorcycle riding werewolf. LOL What did you expect?

I'm still looking for another job to fund my writing habit. It's a good thing I don't do coke or something really expensive. *snort* Not that lack of writing can't cause withdrawals. I always forget how good it feels to write when I take a few weeks or a few months off. As soon as I start on a new story it's like, "Holy crap, why did I take a break?" I try to take at least a month between stories though, just so I can clear my head and come up with fresh ideas. The best works to me are the ones I write after about three months off. That seems to be my magic number:)

Other than that, I've been playing some old video games. I mean really old. Not like Atari or anything, but still pretty old. LOL I've been playing Resident Evil, Code Veronica. What a pain in the ass. It's an interesting story, which is what keeps my interest. But it's HARD. If anyone knows how to beat the Tyrant (or crotch-a-saurus-rex as I've come to call him) please, let me know. I'm working on kicking his butt for the second time and I'm getting pounded like a cheap steak. If you've ever played the game, you'll probably get the crotch joke. There are so many unnecessary shots of this guys crotch that it just gets funny after a while. He's a big buff zombie/cyborg looking thing. Like I want to see a zombie's crotch. Ewww.

Diary of an Incubus

That's the book I'm working on right now and it has really taken off! I guess you could say it has wings, literally for one character. LOL

I am enjoying working on this story so much:) I always enjoy writing, but I haven't enjoyed a story this much since I wrote Eden (coming 2009 from NCP). I had a very interesting vampire show up out of nowhere. Now he wants to do "bad things" to the heroine and he's very vocal about it. Wouldn't mind doing a few bad things to him. LOL

Anyway, this story is coming along great. I should finish it sometime this month and have it polished and off to my publisher:)

I hope that everyone who reads them enjoys these stories as much as I enjoy writing them. Sure, I try to make them as entertaining as possible, but I also write the story that I'm feeling. I write what I feel needs to be there, what the story and the characters need to be told. I write what I would enjoy as a reader. Hopefully, I've found a lot of kindred spirits:)
