I almost forgot

I keep forgetting to share the news. Red, book one in my Werewolf Hunter Series has just been re-released. Since it's original release nearly five years ago, Red has been warmly received by many readers.

For the re-release I've revised, re-edited and even slightly expanded the already long (100,000+ word) novel.

This time around, I'm hoping my marketing efforts will help me reach a larger portion of my target audience. Who is my target audience? Everyone who enjoys urban fantasy, science fiction, paranormal, and doesn't mind some sex and violence.

I've put Red under the category of horror/paranormal fantasy rather than romance. While the story has romance in it, and someday the series WILL have a happy ending, Red is more of a horror/fantasy with romantic overtones.

Book description:

Dr. Alfred Moody saved her life, but the werewolf, Marco may hold the key to her heart. She’s torn between the man who saved her humanity and the one who makes her want to embrace the beast. ******************************************************************************************
NOTE: This series gets hotter as it goes. However, Book One is NOT erotic. Someday Lilith will have a happy ending, but this is only the beginning.WARNING: This book contains graphic language and graphic violence.

Re-vamp of the Werewolf Hunter Series is on the way

As with many of my titles, the rights to the Werewolf Hunter series are in the process of reverting back to me. This means my contracts are running out and I've chosen not to renew them.

I am in the process of re-editing, revising, and expanding each book in the series for re-release. I'm also doing the cover art on these myself this time around. Hopefully, I can accurately capture my vision (and all my reader's visions) of Lilith.

I'm doing this (releasing the books myself) in the hopes of reaching a larger portion of my target audience. Previously, Red (book one in the series) was sold in the category of erotica. It is NOT an erotic romance. Actually, it's the beginning of a paranormal series. There IS romance and eventually there IS erotic content. Just not in book one (the erotic part, I mean). Red sets the stage for everything to come. And there are LOTS of things going on in this series.

As I re-read and edited book one again, I didn't realize how much I'd forgotten about this series. Naturally, I remembered the basics because I wrote it. But I'd forgotten so many little things and character traits. I was very surprised.

Now, as I get to know these characters again, there will be more books to come. I'm re-reading my extensive notes on the series as well and plan to (once I've finished releasing the other titles) start back with the series.

Thank you so much to all my loyal fans of this series. You and your kind emails have kept Lilith Mercury alive.

Now, here is my latest cover art creation. I hope you like it.

Book Description: Dr. Alfred Moody saved her life, but the werewolf, Marco may hold the key to her heart. She’s torn between the man who saved her humanity and the one who makes her want to embrace the beast. WARNING: This series gets hotter as it goes. However, Book One is NOT erotic. Someday Lilith will have a happy ending, but this is only the beginning.

Why did I write that book?

So, why did I write RED?

When I first started thinking of this article I wondered how I would ever pick which book to talk about. A lot of my ideas come from dreams. I keep a dream journal just in case I ever need some good material. Ha. Ha. Seriously, I had a hard time narrowing it down. Finally, I decided to talk about Red, the first book in my Lilith Mercury series.

I chose Red not only because it was the first novel I’d ever written, but because I put an awful lot of myself into it. I wrote Red in response to many things and each character means something different to me. I’ll start with Lilith.

Lilith (as some of you may have already heard me say) is my dark side. I have always had a love of comic books. I invented Lilith during study hall when I was in the 8th grade. I sketched her picture and knew her name the instant she was finished. Lilith: Werewolf Hunter. I came up with the last name and tweaked the outfit years later. I say she is my dark side, because she is. She says the things that I think, but am too polite to say. (Most of the time.) She does the things that I would, if I could get away with them. And like all girls who sketch their own superhero, she started out looking like me and I never changed that. However, she is (despite popular myth) the only female character deliberately modeled after myself. I figured that would be the easiest way to keep writing her story. Shouldn’t we know ourselves better than anyone else? I invented Lilith in response to a need to kick ass.

Marco, the alpha werewolf in the series, was supposed to be the bad guy. However, the instant he walked onto the page I fell in love with him and that was no longer possible. He is everything I think a hero should be. (Though he’s not the only man in Lilith’s life.) Strong, kind, and always compassionate. BUT, he knows when it’s time for action and doesn’t back down from a fight. I wrote Marco in response to all the wimpy alphas I’d read over the years. Never again. Ha. Ha.
And since this post can’t include everyone in the Lilith universe, I’ll finish the introduction of characters with Dracula, who makes his appearance in book three. I have dreamed of him all my life. Literally. Since I can first remember writing down some of my dreams, I remember this tall, dark, handsome figure. Maybe it was a glimpse of my destiny, since he would one day be a part of my stories. I’ve always known what he would look like, how he would act, and the smell of his cologne. Seeing him finally walk onto the page felt familiar and I loved it.

As for the rest of the story, I let my imagination run wild. I wanted to write my own werewolf mythology. I wanted to tell where the first vampire came from, according to me. So, I did. These characters were too special to me to just put them in any old world. They needed their own unique universe. I think this clip from Red gives a hint of what’s to come well enough without me breaking it all down. I don’t want to give too much away.

“Lycanthropy was created during the only world war the planet Terra has ever known. It’s a man-made disease, born of nightmares. It was engineered as a biological weapon by Lionel Ferdinand, a scientist with radical ideas of what should be done with individuals who disagreed with his own political views. The idea was that people contaminated with the disease would transform and annihilate everyone else. Not everyone is capable of contracting lycanthropy, however. Just as some people have immunity to certain diseases they have been immunized against, others have a natural resistance. It was from these people that a vaccine was developed. Many hoped it would be ‘the cure’ for what was at the time known as the animal virus.

Unfortunately, such was not the case. The virus ran rampant. The only person rumored to have developed a successful vaccine was Ferdinand himself, who had at this point already been killed, slaughtered by a monster of his own making. Only pieces of his research were ever found. The complete formula, it would appear, was in his head. And most unfortunately, that had been lopped off by a werewolf."

I have always loved mythology and anything macabre. Vampires, werewolves, you name it and I’ve probably read something about it. I get asked often what books I like to read. I don’t read anything (not for years now) in the same genre I write because I don’t want to be influenced. I want my ideas (however crazy) to be my own. If they sound like someone else’s, that just goes to show that great minds think alike. Ha. Ha.

So, I wrote Red and started the Lilith Mercury series because these characters wouldn’t stop talking to me. They nagged me day and night until I finished the first two books straight through in three months and submitted the first. I’ve always said that I write what I like and I hoped that since I enjoyed the story so much, other people might feel the same. Their story needed to be told, and as I’ve often said about Dracula, “The world would be worse off for having missed this vision.”

By the way, if you like the Lilith series, there are hints of her world carried over into my other stories. For example, she makes an appearance in Bitten, though just briefly. I wanted my world to meld seamlessly with the real so much that it began to seem possible.

I wasn't aware that I wrote porn

You heard me. Which is strange to me since I wrote it ... right? I'm at a bit of a loss for words but I'm a writer so I'll get over that. The strangest thing happened to me yesterday and as I started my coffee early this morning and wondered what to blog about, I figured I might as well share.

Let me point out first that I'm not angry and this is not a post against anyone. I'm not going to mention names or tell any conversations that happened after the initial facts. This is just very, very strange and I can't help myself. Actually, I keep thinking about it and laughing.

Here's what happened. I realize that not everyone is going to like what I write. That's a hazard of the job, so be it. This isn't about that. My mom and I were in the car yesterday on our way to pick up my son from school and she started telling me this. One of our neighbors, whom my parents grew up with, was at my aunt's house. (Now, all of these people are my neighbors and some of them are my family which to me makes this even stranger.) My aunt had a copy of my first book, Red, on hand. So, they started talking about it. My aunt (God bless her) is very supportive of me which I greatly appreciate. She offered to let this neighbor borrow her copy of the book when he expressed interest. After all, he's known my parents for years, it might be neat to see what their kid writes, huh?

Well, I'll be honest and say I'm not sure of everything that happened between him leaving and him returning. Apparently his wife (who we've all known for years too) freaked out. She wouldn't let him even bring the book in the house. She snatched it out of his hands and took off back toward my aunt's house. (My aunt lives around the block.) This neighbor called to warn my aunt about the kind of mood his wife was in and that she was on her way. So, my cousin (God bless him too) met her at the door and accepted back the book.

That's weird enough, but get this. Throughout this entire incident she was waving the book around and screaming and I quote, "It's goddamned porn!" She kept repeating that her husband couldn't read the book because it's "goddamned porn." (It's okay to laugh at this point if you want, because I can't stop.)

First of all, anyone who knows how the rating system at NCP works will understand that the book is definitely not porn. And if you've read it I'm sure you'll also agree. It isn't even considered erotica. Which is also not porn, but some people have that definition confused as well.

Honestly, I can't pick my jaw up off the floor over this one. My parents, myself, and much of my family have known these people for years. She was one of the first people I told about my first contract while out riding my bike one day. I told her all about the book and she said she couldn't wait to read it, that she loves that sort of thing. WTF?

Like I said, I get that not everybody will like what I write and that's fine. I don't like everything I read either. I'm just at a loss here. I've been trying to figure out since yesterday what would cause a grown woman to behave this way. Especially a grown woman who reads (or has in the past) romance novels. Once again, a great big WTF? LOL

Anyway, this was so bizarre I couldn't resist sharing it with you guys:) Any thoughts ... or medication suggestions? LOL

Red is coming to print this Wednesday!

THE FOLLOWING IS AN UNEDITED EXCERPT FROM RED, BOOK ONE IN THE LILITH MERCURY: WEREWOLF HUNTER SERIES BY TRACEY H. KITTS. AVAILABLE NOW FROM NEW CONCEPTS PUBLISHING

We went to a few places. Mostly, Kat drank a lot and watched me dance. I love to dance; it’s such an incredible stress reliever. There are some times when stress just calls for physical activity. I’d worked out so vigorously over the past few months that I’d lost ten pounds. But, I was sick of making my punching bag suffer defeat, or slicing and dicing my poor steel dummy in the training room. I needed to do something less violent to calm my nerves ... I needed to dance.

It was very late, or very early, depending on how you want to look at it, when we arrived at the last stop of the night. This club was unusual, to say the least. Three bold letters splashed above the door in massive blood colored brushstrokes said, Red. The moment I saw it, I knew this was the place from my dream, and somewhere inside, was the man I’d been dreaming about.

The inside of the place was dark, with occasional flashes of strobe lights illuminating a path through the crowd of sweaty gyrating bodies. When I say the music pumped, I’m not using a figure of speech. You could feel the rhythm in your chest, like a heartbeat. Like really good sex, the pounding music rattled your teeth. The whole room pulsated with an energy I couldn’t describe. It excited me.

In the time we were there, a variety of music was played and a variety of people were on the dance floor. Some who could dance, others so drunk they thought they could. Kat made her way over to what may have been a stage, but it looked more like an elevated part of the dance floor. She sat at a table there to enjoy watching some drunk guys trying to dance.

“Free entertainment,” she yelled, pointing at the staggering group.

I yelled back that I’d be at the bar for a while, and made my way back through the crowd. I sat on one of the tall leather barstools, and ordered a coke and rum.
Unfortunately for me, it took a great deal of alcohol to get me drunk and right then, I wanted nothing more than to lose myself in the wonderful haze of intoxication. I metabolize alcohol at such a fast rate that I can get a buzz, sit down to watch a movie, and be completely sober half way through. Kat saw my high metabolism as a gift from God, until I told her how fast I burned off alcohol.

“No one could ever take advantage of you,” she’d teased, looking scandalized.

I tried explaining to her there are ways of intoxicating the senses besides alcohol. She’d smirked and said, “Yeah, but I haven’t had sex that good in a while.” That wasn’t exactly what I’d meant, but I thought explaining would have been a waste of time.
I stayed at the bar for at least twenty minutes, eventually downing straight shots of rum. The whole time I was there, I sensed someone watching me. I put down my tenth empty shot glass and focused for a moment on the eyes that I could feel on my back. Even through the haze I’d managed to accomplish I knew a werewolf when I sensed one. My heart fluttered, my pulse quickened, and I was suddenly short of breath. It was almost like being aroused.

Someone leaned over me just as there was a brief pause in the music and whispered against my right ear, “Would you like to dance?” His scent was thrilling. He smelled clean, like soap mingled with aftershave, and underneath it all, there was the undeniable scent of a man. I turned enough to see Marco Barak.

“Hello, Red,” he smiled.

I wondered if he’d been waiting till I got drunk enough to accept his offer. I hesitated for a moment, just looking at him. I might have to kill this man one day. But that night, I wanted to dance. I took his hand and led him onto the dance floor through the crowd, and onto the raised platform in front of Kat’s table. We danced for what felt like hours. I suppose you could have called our dancing foreplay. I know many women consider dancing a metaphor for sex. If that’s true, then my God, this man danced well.

Time stood still as we moved together. The touch of his body against mine sent fire through my veins, like small jolts of electric sensuality. I was vaguely aware that Kat had taken out her camera and was snapping pictures between the flashing lights. The room seemed to freeze with each flash, giving me unforgettable mental images. Marco wore black leather pants and a matching shirt that felt smooth to the touch. We looked as if we’d dressed to match.

His hair that I remembered as a dusty blond had darkened into a brown over the years. Through the rain a few weeks ago, I couldn’t tell. After all, everything is darker when it’s wet. But, his eyes were the same deep chocolate brown I remembered. I noticed a light stubble on his chin, as if he’d forgotten to shave, and the beginnings of side burns. Have I mentioned how fond I am of men who look like they’ve been roughed up a little?

He pulled me close and asked, “What are you thinking?”

“That you’re a good dancer.” I paused, looking him up and down. “It’s difficult to find a man with such ... rhythm.” I looked into his dark eyes and saw a passion which could only be described as hunger.

“I was seriously considering asking you to leave with me,” he confessed.

“I was considering doing just that.”

He didn’t seem as surprised as I’d expected. “Are you here with someone?”

“A friend.”

“Are you attached to someone in any way?”

“Yes,” I lied. “Are you?”

“Yes, but I’m beginning to regret my choices,” he answered.

He pulled me near, as if to kiss me. Stopping just short of contact, he breathed against my lips, “Let’s get out of here.”

“Let me tell my friend I’m leaving. She’s really drunk and is going to need a cab,” I explained.

“Does she know me?” he asked.

“Yeah, she knows who you are.”

He paused, as if trying to figure out how to word his question. “I mean, does she know--”

“What you are?” I interrupted.

He nodded.

“Yes. She does,” I said simply.

“Will she tell on you?” he asked.

“No.”

Stepping down from the platform, I walked to Kathryn’s table and tried to explain that I was leaving with Marco. She was very drunk, and couldn’t seem to grasp what I was saying. I handed her some money. “You go back to the hotel, don’t take anyone with you, and lock the door. Understand?” She nodded, but still had a blank look on her face.

“But ... isn’t he--?”

“Yes,” I interrupted, “He is.”

She looked around me at Marco. It was obvious what she was thinking. She looked him up and down like he was on a buffet and she was starving. “Oh ... alright then.” I gave her a look that said this was not up for discussion. “How long will you be?” she asked.

I glanced back to Marco waiting patiently and let my eyes roam over all of the places I’d like to put my hands. “This might take a while,” I answered.

Red is in Realms of Fantasy!

Red is featured in the current issue of Realms of Fantasy Magazine:) When you get a chance to check it out, I'm on page 28. Since I live in the middle of nowhere, I had a little trouble getting my hands on a copy. Lucky for me it's a bi-monthly magazine. This is the June 2008 issue which has been out since April.

So anyway, I got a copy this weekend and showed it to everybody who would hold still long enough. LOL What can I say? It's the first magazine I've been in. I was excited.

Thou Shalt Do The Dance

I hope someone else has seen Evan Almighty and gets that joke. LOL So, why am I doing "the dance" today? Because Red is still climbing the charts at Fictionwise! Yes, I know I've talked a lot about it lately. That's because this is what's going on in my life right now and I am very excited about it.

I'm not putting it up here to brag. As a matter of fact, I keep talking about it because I'm mostly in shock. The part that isn't in shock is very moved. It's such an amazing feeling to know so many people are not only reading my book, but getting what I have to say. Since they get what I have to say, that means they get me.

Some people go their whole lives without every making that connection to another person. You know, having someone "get" them. To be able to write and to share my thoughts and feelings with the audience is like being able to share little bits and pieces of me. Because that's really what I'm doing.

I am humbled that anyone thought it worthy to even go into print. But to get this kind of response from readers takes my breath away. (That's why I'm having to type about it. LOL Okay, that was a bad joke.)

This is what I've always wanted to do with my life and now I have the chance. Not many people can say that. So, like I said, this isn't a brag. This is another thank you to my readers (because without you guys I wouldn't be here) and a thank you to God. (Because without him I wouldn't be here either.)

So, here are the latest stats on Red. (On Fictionwise)

#4 in the Romance Category

#3 NCP's list

#10 Recent Best Sellers

An Introduction to Dracula

The following is an unedited excerpt from The Dread Moon by Tracey H. Kitts. The Dread Moon is book three in the Lilith Mercury: Werewolf Hunter Series from New Concepts Publishing.

“He looked like he’d stepped off the pages of an erotic novel. He wore one of those wonderful white shirts with ruffles around wrists which hung over the tops of his knuckles. The front of the shirt had laces between the ruffles, but they were not tied, leaving the shirt open to reveal a portion of his beautiful body. The hood cast a shadow over half of his face, leaving only his full pink lips visible. But I knew somewhere in the darkness lay those piercing emerald eyes, and it made me shiver.”

“I watched as he removed the long cloak and tossed it across the bed. My heart hammered in my chest painfully as Luther slid the white shirt with its many ruffles from Dracula’s body. He looked even better without the shirt. He wasn’t overly muscular, but beautifully toned and undeniably masculine. Every part that should be curved was curved, and everywhere there needed to be a ridge, that’s what I found as my eyes roamed over him.
His emerald eyes no longer held magic when I gazed into them, but there was a fire within that never completely died.”

“I looked up as he walked through the door and my breath caught. He was every bit the dream I had held so dear. His naked body glistened in the candlelight, and strands of dark wet hair clung to his throat. He was formed of a devastating and heartrending beauty, making him almost painful to look upon. But pain and pleasure are sometimes separated by only a thin line.”

The Big Bad Wolf, an excerpt from Red

The following is an unedited Excerpt from Red, Book one in the Lilith Mercury: Werewolf Hunter Series by Tracey H. Kitts. Available Now From New Concepts Publishing.

Putting down my pin, I looked up at the moon. It was half full, peeking from the clouds like a large silvery eye. I had always heard that “the crazies” come out on a full moon. The truth was, they were always out, some of them were just more dangerous on a full moon.

I walked to the edge of the balcony and nearly fell backward when I looked over the roses. Marco was standing under the balcony, looking up expectantly.

“Little pig, little pig,” he began.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “That won’t get you anywhere. Besides, I waxed my chin.”

He laughed then too and the sound sent shivers up my spine.

“What are you doing here, Marco?”

“I wanted to talk to you.”

“Why?”

“Can’t I come in?” he asked, the deep and sexy rumble of his voice did things to me that I couldn’t describe.

“No, you can’t.”

“Don’t you trust me, Red?” he said, pretending to be offended.

“No, I don’t,” I answered, but I couldn’t stop the smile.

“But you like me.” It wasn’t a question.

“I could have you killed for standing here.”

“But you won’t.”

Marco knew I wouldn’t kill him, not that night, not for just standing there. He stepped back slightly, and I got a better look at one of the sexiest men I’d ever seen. I’ve never seen anyone look so good in a pair of jeans. They weren’t tight, but they fit well enough that you knew what you were looking at, and I felt guilty for looking. Alfred hadn’t been gone a day, and there I was ogling Marco, again.

“No,” I said after a long pause, “I won’t have you killed, but I don’t feel like conversation tonight either.”

“Well, I didn’t feel like conversation when you cuffed me to the chair.”

A smile curved my lips as I purred silkily, “Well, I don’t feel like sex either.”

The smile he gave me was nothing short of charming, as he responded, “You know where to find me.”

“Yes.” Unfortunately, I did, which made it more tempting to seek him out, I thought with a smile as I watched Marco disappear into the woods.

Red is the first book in my Lilith Mercury Werewolf Hunter Series. Available now at www.newconceptspublishing.com/red.htm.

The Dread Moon has a face!

Wow. I was so surprised when I found out two days ago that the latest book in my werewolf hunter series has a cover already! And from the looks of things, this is my hot new vampire:) I'm so excited. The artist really captured the feel of this book, in my opinion, and I can't wait to share it with readers.

Another great review for Red!

WOOHOO! *pauses to do a little dance* Oh, crap. I hear thunder. That must have been the wrong dance. Anyway, this post isn't about dancing. It's about the reason I FEEL like dancing! My debut novel RED just got another great review! This one is from ParaNormalRomance, and I couldn't wait to share it:)

"action and electric heat"

Lilith Mercury is one of those women you don't mess with or she will show you first hand what a bad-ass she is. Having the job of hunting werewolves has hardened her into the strong woman she is. She was born into the job through her father being part of the police squad that was in charge of exterminating the outlaw Lycan Species. She loves her job, it makes her feel alive. But then Marco walks into her life and all of her firm ideas take a beating when she realizes that Marco is all that she has been taught to fight, to take out. Marco is "Off Limits" to her because he is a werewolf. But Lilith can't fight the attraction she feels for him. Could all that she has been taught be wrong? Then there is Alfred, her partner and housemate for years. What is going on? She not only finds it impossible to stay away from Marco, but she is finding the man she has known for years very attractive, a man that would help and do anything for her. Add to that the police detective and Lilith wonders what is she doing, feeling here?

How is she going to chose between three great guys that will do anything for her? Alfred is willing to wait as long as needed because his love for her is that strong. Then you have Marco, the alpha werewolf that is so sensual, he knows what he wants and has faith that the wait will end with him winning Lilith.

Tracey H. Kitts blew me away with the world she built in this story. The characters were so real and knew what they wanted; they just needed to get Lilith to see it their way. The action and electric heat between all of the characters made the story flow effortlessly. I look forward to reading the next in this great series by Tracey H Kitts.

5 Ribbon Review for RED!!!

I cannot begin to express how pleased I was when I read the following review from Maria Shaink of Romance Junkies. What can I say? I'm still doing the happy dance:)

From Romance Junkie's Maria Shaink

BLUE RIBBON RATING: 5 ribbons (out of 5)

Lilith Mercury is a badass girl with the best intentions. She’s a werewolf hunter, born to the job by virtue of her father being part of an interplanetary police squad that exterminates the outlawed Lycan species. She’s great at her job and it’s never been a problem, until she meets Marco. He’s off—limits, being a werewolf and all, but their attraction is undeniable and unstoppable. Then there’s Alfred, the man who’s been her partner and roommate for years, and who she suddenly realizes is not just her friend but a very attractive man who’d do anything to warm her soul. Added into the mix is a very sexy police detective who knows how to show a lady a good time. So who’s a girl to choose?

The story of RED is a fast—paced and highly detailed tale of a werewolf hunter in a world much like our own, but in which werewolves are common knowledge on Earth. In an interesting take on the werewolf legend, the author introduces Lycans as a race created by a mad scientist whose virus infected scores of people on another planet. These first werewolves fled to Earth, and now the people of the original planet, Terran, have agents—hunters—placed on Earth to exterminate them. I really enjoyed this departure from the norm, this blending of paranormal and science fiction genres. Ms. Kitts also blends her debut novel with fantastic details of dream analysis, enchanted journals and psychic powers.

The characters of RED are the best part of the story. Marco is a consummate Alpha and deliciously sensual figure, a man who knows exactly what he wants and has faith that his patience will win the girl of his dreams. Alfred is just as striking—a romantic, patient man whose love for Lilith has been waiting for the right moment to give it voice. I can’t wait to read more about him in the next installment of the Lilith Mercury tales. All the characters in this story come together to create a terrific vignette of Lilith’s life, what she is like, who she really is beyond the sarcastic wit and carefully controlled emotions. The reader knows and comprehends Lilith by the end of the story, and this leaves the reader anticipating the next book for resolutions to questions posed, and new developments in the life of the huntress. Ms. Kitt’s skill in writing is something that very few debut writers are capable of. Her mastery in weaving an intricate storyline and keeping the reader enticed and on edge is what sets her apart in such a gripping way. I fully expect to see her quickly snatched up by some New York publishing house.
The loves scenes in this story were exquisitely tasteful and well—placed. This was not just some excuse to write a lot of hot sex with little—to—no story to balance it. The whole book was oozing with sexual tension and I loved every second of it! Ms. Kitts keeps a lot of tension going on the sexual side of certain interpersonal relationships, while adding humor and fun into other aspects of the book. Every secondary character was well placed and added depth to the story, keeping the plot multilayered and vastly compelling. The scenes featuring Lilith’s great—grandfather had me teary—eyed, while scenes in Marco’s nightclub had my blood running hot. Ms. Kitts is an extremely adept writer who knows how to play to her audience’s emotions, and the personal touches she gives to each character, from Lilith’s poetry to her analysis of dreams, lend credence and humanity to the people inhabiting the pages of this work.

RED is a book that really resonated with me, crawling up into my consciousness like silk—covered fingers. The stage has been set for the next in the Lilith Mercury Werewolf Hunter series, entitled OBJECT OF MY AFFECTION, and I cannot wait to read it when it comes out in October! Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton’s early Anita Blake stories will find a lot to love here. Ms. Kitts’ storytelling is some of the best I have read in a long time, and after finishing this novel, I felt that ache of withdrawal that only comes with reading that last page of a truly great story and cursing yourself for reading it too fast! Anita Blake fans— you have just been served!
