Werewolves Can't Fly by Berengaria Brown is out today!

Please join me in congratulating Berengaria on what sounds like an awesome new release!

Get ready for Halloween with a hot werewolf ménage!

“Werewolves Can’t Fly” which released on 3 October, is the sequel to “Flight to Joy”, but you don’t have to have read the first book to enjoy this one.

“Flight to Joy” blurb

Mermae can fly. She’s had to keep it a secret, and has never met anyone else like her. One evening she thinks she sees something as she lands after a flight, but decides she’s mistaken, so walks home.
Kade sees a woman flying and is intrigued. He can fly, yet has never met anyone else who can. So he follows her to her apartment to learn her address, then hurries home to his partner, Iain, to tell him the good news.

And now the story continues…

“Werewolves Can’t Fly” blurb:

Mermae joined Kade and Iain four months ago. Halloween is almost here and Iain, a werewolf, is desperate for them to commit to each other.

But how can they keep their secrets in a city? And if they move out of the city how will they earn money and live?

Iain asked werewolves Dwyer and Nelson, who live on a secure farm, if his family can bond there and run on Halloween. Dwyer and Nelson are thrilled Iain has found his third person and welcome them to a little hidden cabin.

The mating is wonderful, but all their other problems remain unresolved. Is there a solution to them?

PG -13 EXCERPT

They lay on their sides in bed, sweaty and relaxed, satiated, yet Iain wanted more. With Halloween so close now, he wanted to convince-- no, that's wasn't fair. All decisions had to be made freely. He wanted Mermae and Kade to understand how badly he needed them to mate, to commit to each other, so his wolf side would be fulfilled.

Hoping he could explain himself properly, Iain said, "Halloween is special to a werewolf."

"What, you're going to howl at the moon?" teased Mermae.

He tugged her closer to him. "You never know, I might. But I really will need to run properly that night, and I want you both to be beside me. Traditionally, we fuck, then run, then fuck again on Halloween."

Mermae slid up on an elbow so she could look into his face. "There's more than that, though, isn't there?"

"You're a very perceptive woman. Yes, there is. We usually fuck the first time as humans and the second time as wolves, but that can't happen in our triad. But the ritual, yeah I need to complete the ritual. I..." Iain broke off. He didn't want to pressure her, or Kade, although Kade knew a bit more about how important this all was to him.

"You want us to commit." Mermae spoke slowly yet firmly.

Iain rolled over and lay flat on his back staring at her face, trying to read the expression behind her eyes. He nodded. What if she turns me down? What if she isn't ready yet to take this step?

"Okay. Let's just go through this all again. You can bite me without turning me into a werewolf. You've bitten Kade and nothing's ever happened to him. Right?"

"Yes." Kade spoke at the same time as him. Iain was going to add more, but it was obvious Mermae was still thinking, so he waited for her to finish.

"The commitment is binding. Once we commit it's for life. Except that you're going to live a hell of a lot longer than Kade and me. Does this mean even after we die you can never commit to another two people?"

"Yes, it does. But I've been told in committed triads that include non-wolves, the humans tend to live quite a lot longer than regular humans. As you know, I've never lived in a pack. We were lone wolves. My three parents and twin brother were killed by hunters when I was a teenager and when I looked for a pack, they were all one male/one female packs, and much bigger than me and..." Once again he couldn't finish what he wanted to say. This was not the time to pull the pity card. Mermae had to decide for herself, not because of anything he said, but because she wanted to commit to him and Kade.

Just Released Today!

Available Now at Aspen Mountain Press

Revenge is a hot, bitter dish when served up enthusiastically by someone empowered by extra steam.

Blurb:

Heidi Labeidi, a successful Nevada brothel owner, had the world by its tail until her deceptive lover Stan Graves disposed of her. Lost somewhere between life and the afterlife, Heidi materializes in her former home thirty years after her death. She has a second chance and she’s hell bent on solving her own murder.

With a knack for creating pleasure-inducing trinkets and furniture, Edward Brady is an eccentric mad scientist on the verge of greatness. He’s also in desperate need of an assistant and his problems are solved when he discovers a sensual ghost enjoying his sex toys.

Heidi has something to offer Edward but her assistance comes at a price. And when Edward becomes an assassin’s mark, only Heidi can help him. Will Edward barter with a ghost who can save him and if he does, will the former madam become the one woman Edward is unable to resist?

Excerpt:

Heidi squeezed his fingers. “You’re a thoughtful man, Edward, but trust me when I tell you: I’ve ruined many a man’s reputation. You’re considered a genius in this town. You don’t want this city to turn its back on you right now. You’re on the verge of something great and I want to come along for the ride.” She slid her arm under the table and touched his knee. “And I want a lot of rides with you, Edward.”

His damn prick was ready to negotiate the terms.

You do?” Edward asked, engaging himself in what must’ve looked like an odd one-sided conversation. By the time he realized what he was doing, half the restaurant’s customers were now turning around, staring at him with marked curiosity.

Heidi tilted her head toward some of the patrons. “You’re seated at a table for two. You requested a couple of wine glasses. Two meals have been served. This seat is vacant and you’re holding a hand that doesn’t exist.” She looked down at their entwined fingers. “Your thumb is jerking as if you’re massaging my wrist. You don’t think this is newsworthy for the Las Vegas Lifestyle Magazine?”

“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,” Edward admitted. “If I can see you, then they must.”

“No, Edward,” she said, standing.

He stood too as a polite gesture.

“I don’t exist in your world. You’re the only one who can see me.”

“Then I’m one lucky guy.”

Heidi held her shoulders back. A quick tilt of her head sent ringlets tumbling across her shoulders. “That depends on who you ask at the moment. In public situations like this, I recommend that you listen and let me do the talking. Some here are ruthless snakes when it comes to tearing down a man’s reputation, especially one like yours, and they’ll be anxious to poke fun at the crazy man, the man who inevitably will catch the eye of their women because of his deep pockets.”

“What’s that mean, exactly?”

“You’re about to make millions, the kind of money this city hasn’t seen since the days of Howard Hughes, and you’re acting as crazy as Hughes himself.”

“I’m not hungry,” he told her, feeling like he’d known her at another point and time in his life. “I want to take you home and—”

“And what, Edward? Get to know me?”

“Yes.”

She took a deep breath. “Oh for heaven’s sake, sit down and finish your meal and then meet me at the curb. As long as you’re looking at me like I’m dessert, there’s no way you’ll enjoy your dinner. Besides, you’re drawing too much attention.”

“I would think someone in your line of work craves center stage.” he pointed out, snapping at her.

Heidi leaned forward. “Careful, Edward, everyone is staring now.”

The point of no return, an excerpt from Original Sin

Original Sin is the fourth book in the Lilith Mercury: Werewolf Hunter Series by Tracey H. Kitts, Coming this December from New Concepts Publishing.

The day had started out beautiful, but on our way back storm clouds began to form. I touched Marco’s arm and sensed something different than I had expected. After what had happened with Peter, he was worried that I would be afraid of him now. Two men I had loved had now turned on me, one much more seriously than the other, and he was afraid I would expect the same thing from him. I pressed my face against his back to keep from crying, because I knew as I opened myself up more that Marco would have died the other day to save me. It was a price he went there willing to pay if he had to. He loved me without doubt, and I would never have to question his loyalty.

When we pulled back up, I made some tea and brought it out to where he sat on the porch. There are two white wicker chairs on the right side of my porch with a small matching table between. We sat there and talked and managed to just relax for a while. Believe it or not, The Big Bad Wolf likes blueberry tea.

As we sat there on the front porch talking, the storm was quickly approaching. So far, taking it slow was working for us. But as I looked at him I knew I had reached my limit. Marco was beyond a doubt the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. Alfred was handsome and well built. Dracula was enchanting with his near perfect, unearthly beauty. But Marco had a sexiness all his own to which they paled in comparison. Every thing about Marco was exactly as it should be. There was no part of him that did not appear as strong and masculine as the rest. My muscles began to tighten in response to his nearness, and I felt my fingers grip the wicker chair arm in response to the sensation. Marco must have seen me stiffen and misunderstood the reasoning behind it. He rose quickly. “I should go,” he said as he walked down the steps.

“Wait.” I grabbed his hand.

He looked dangerous as he glanced back at me. His eyes seemed to glow in the growing darkness. He had been so careful not to cross the line. Marco had been nothing if not patient with me, and the need he had managed to hide was now evident in his eyes. “Do you really want me to stay?” His rough sexy voice had already begun to deepen with the change. He was close to the bottom of the steps and I was near the middle. This made our height almost even. We both knew what would happen if he stayed. There was no point in pretending otherwise, not this time.

Not just anyone can make a vampire tremble

The following is an excerpt of Brain Dead, by Tracey H. Kitts, available now from New Concepts Publishing.

She sighed and breathed in his cologne.

“From the moment you touched my hand last night you ceased to frighten me. I know this sounds crazy but I feel like I know you. You tell me now, Luis. Do you plan to hurt me? Am I wrong to trust you?”

“No,” he whispered.

“Then I am not naive.”

Luis bent to kiss her and she hesitated. Since the first time he’d smiled at her Jane had thought of little else besides how his sultry lips would feel pressed against her own, but there was something she wanted to make clear first.

“I’ve been hurt before, Luis. More than once. Don’t hurt me … my heart can’t take anymore.”

“Do not lose faith in all mankind, chéri over one who is less than a man,” he breathed against her lips.

Since Jane had never known another vampire, she’d never kissed one either and was not prepared for the sensation. His lips were soft and full. At first he kissed her tenderly, allowing her time to adjust to the almost hypnotic sensation of his touch. As Luis deepened the kiss Jane moaned, running her hands inside his coat. His shirt was silk and felt wonderful underneath her hands as she ran them up and down his back, savoring the feel of his body beneath the smooth fabric. It was almost like falling, without hitting the ground.

Jane ran her tongue across his teeth and felt his fangs before pulling away breathlessly.

“Is it always like that?” she asked.

“No,” he gasped. “It is always different with a vampire, but you too are a supernatural being.”

“So, that makes a difference?” she asked, placing a hand over her heart as if that motion would slow its pace.

“Oh, yes.”

“Wow.”

Luis had been propped against the chair since she released him and now stood and began to straighten his clothes. His hands trembled and Jane smiled.

“Is every woman capable of making a vampire tremble, or do I flatter myself to think that I’m special?” she teased silkily.

Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow - Featured Authors

I'd like to welcome Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow to the blog today! Thanks for being here ladies:)

Thanks for having us here today!!!

What’s the best part about being a writer?

Mandy: I'm no longer considered a freak in my community. Now I'm just eccentric.

Michelle: Being paid to do what I love. That feeling you get when someone's liked your hard work and tells you.

Did the two of you always want to be writers?

Michelle: I wanted to be a 'starving artist' photographer living in in New York City. However, I met my husband (who was accepted into chef school) and he fed me. I never made it to New York. But really, with being fed great food daily, I’m fine with that.

Mandy: I’d never given any thought to writing prior to doing it. My chosen profession was art/marketing. I got bored one night and started a book. By the end of the month, I had Daughter of Darkness done. I’m waiting for the feeling like an author to kick in. So far, I’m having too much doing it to consider it work.

How do each of you handle research for you books? Is it important to you?

Mandy: I'm a closest geek. I'll spend more hours basing names, locations of fictional worlds off variation and combinations of actual terms than I would if I just made something up. My first job was at one of the public libraries here and I've always respected all that they offer to the community. Prior to acquiring a large mass of my own material, I went there daily. My next stop is the library system online. They offer journal material for free and it's accurate. After that, it's author friends, family and so on. Last is internet itself.

Michelle: I love research. I over research and I'm addicted by buying research books. And if it’s about anything historical—forget about it.

How does co-writing your joints work for the two of you?

Mandy: Somehow we manage to switch gears to adjust to one another. If I’m cranky (very rare, Michelle is always cranky…ouch) then she’s calm. The reverse is also true. So far, she’s talked me off three ledges, two bellhops and a partridge in a pear tree. I’ve only managed to get her to leave the lights on in her bedroom long enough to find her pajamas before she dives under the covers hoping no one saw her. LOL

Michelle: Well, I’m the sane one, which helps. Which naturally means Mandy’s insane *batting Mandy’s hands away* and a pest, and had this fetish for muphfumupfhmffph…
